Heraklion is located on the eastern site of Crete between Rethymno and Lassithi. It is one of the most popular regions of the island and one of the busiest city centers of Crete. With its wonderful medieval city center, its beaches, and luxury Hotels, Heraklion attracts waves of visitors every year. Heraklion also lies near two of the most important monuments in Crete, Knossos and Phaistos Palace. Both are Minoan sites with Knossos being the largest of the Minoan palatial structures.
